Bloodiest Books 4 Weeks, 1 Day ago
|
|
|
The inner gore-hound in me sometimes enjoys a good romp through strewed entrails. It's not something I'm as attracted to as much now, but I still enjoy it from time to time. Typically, this is in the form of a movie. I ordered Edward Lee's "The House/The Pig" based on recommendations, but have yet to crack it yet. Well I read the first line actually, and it was pretty gross, haha. But I'm looking forward to reading it.
Any thoughts?

I mean any thoughts about bloodiest, goriest, grossest, ultra-violent books full of depravity, in your opinion.

Jack Ketchum's Off Season has some of what you're looking for, and it's really well written, too.
When I was a kid I liked the Evil Ernie comics, but I don't think they hold up.

I've heard Phillip Jose Farmer's Image of the Beast is pretty hideous- I've bought it, but have yet to start reading it.

I adore the Pig/the House. That's my favorite Edward Lee book. Off his work, I also recommend The Bighead and The Minotauress for some bloody and violent fun. I can't say too much just yet, but I'm working with Lee on putting together his Deadite Press collections and they will be splatterific.
I second Off Season and Apeshit if you're looking for super gore.
I also recommend Suffer the Flesh by Monica J. O'Rourke. The anthology Zombies: Encounters with the Hungry Dead edited by John Skipp is pretty blood soaked.

Try Kung Fu High School by Ryan Gattis, I really liked that book.

SPOILER ALERT:
I never understood why that chick let the feral dude shoot a load down her throat before she bit his wang off. Seems like she could've just bit it off.

Wrath James White's SUCCULENT PREY was quite gross. There's also plenty of gore and general nastiness in Douglas Clegg's BREEDER, and Bryan Smith's DEPRAVED.
